"Demonstration project to prove the technical and economic feasibility of using algae to treat saline wastewater from the food industry"

Period: 2016 - in progress

A demonstration project of pre-preparation, anaerobic processing, and algae treatment of saline wastewater from the food industry with the intent to develop technology for purification wastewater with the presence of organic content from the food industry. The project aims to develop and demonstrate a technically and economically viable solution, including the separation and revaluation of algal biomass.

"Algal treatment of biogas digestate and feedstock production"

Period: 2013 - 2016

A development demonstration project of algal treatment of digestate and the production of algal biomass with the purpose of demonstrating the technology and ensuring a technological breakthrough on the market and further applications. The demonstration centre operated in different working regiments measuring process parameters and environmental impact.

"Reducing mineral fertilisers and chemicals use in agriculture by recycling treated organic waste as compost and biochar products"

Period: 2011 - 2015

Call: 7.OP, KBBE

The project goal was to improve the existing composting systems and process animal by-products and biodegradable waste into biochar through pyrolysis, and to develop organic fertilizers and soil improvers for agricultural use. Great emphasis was placed on recycling nutrients, especially nitrogen and phosphorus.

As part of the project, we developed a method for determining anaerobic biodegradation and the technology for processing municipal and industrial biodegradable waste into biogas.
