KOTO is aware of the importance of protecting the environment, which we also confirmed by achieving the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certificate in 1999 as one of the first companies in Slovenia.

We are well aware of our responsibility towards the environment and the future and that is why we focus on environmentally friendly work methods and technologies, which are an important factor in sustainable development.

Our own biogas plant became operational in 2008 and we use it to produce electrical energy from renewable sources. A major part of the production complex energy needs is covered by our own electrical energy, and the heat from renewable sources is largely used for the production of steam and heating the premises. Biogas production reduces our energy dependence on imported energy sources and CO2 emissions.

Unwanted emissions of polluted air are also prevented using a biofilter, which biologically purifies polluted air from the facility for mechanical wastewater purification and excess sludge processing plant. The upgraded biofilter and more efficient biofilter material helped achieve a significant reduction in unwanted emissions and, consequently, reduced air pollution.

A respectful and sustainable attitude towards nature is nurtured on a day to day basis and helps us achieve the company's mission based on keeping the tradition of harmony with nature.
